The interface for connecting Serial ATA hard drives. This new standard replaces the traditional high-speed working in parallel ATA. The serial connection uses high quality wire transmission technology based Gigabit 8b/10b encoding, and pin-out of 7 wires. The data transfer is 3.0 Gb/s that is, 600 MB/s.
